I think i almost hate this stage more than Quiz because it feels like an awful intro stage to the series (that is, if you hadn't played the original GBA one).
Swiping isn't exactly the most natural first reaction to rhythm. Should've been a tapping-only-oriented level like Space Shooter/Shoot-Em-Up.
But maybe that was kinda the point? So that people who had played the original would kinda be on the same page as people brand-new to the series.

some bug-types have it made. heracross is the CEO of a pizza corporation and has run for the office of president, but bug-types like caterpie know that he does not represent the bug type at large by virtue of simply being an anomaly within the group. no well-off executive like him can truly represent the interests of such beleaguered and desperate folks as caterpie, despite his claims of doing just that on the campaign trail.
caterpie has been a low-level employee of gamefreak for some 15 years now, living paycheck to paycheck, barely being able to sustain his beautiful wife butterfree and their 17 kids. it wasn't so bad back in the 90's-- those days, caterpie could do his job in ways no one else could, having only a rivalry with weedle. but in today's global economy, the jobs are disappearing, and the bug-types are often the first to go, for their jobs are typically of the lowest level and are thus outsourced the soonest. caterpie's job in particular has been outsourced to a scolipede who will work for half of caterpie's already piddling salary. paras's job has been outsourced to a dwebble and ninjask's to an accelgor, so caterpie has heard-- pokemon in some far-away locale who can only relate to caterpie and his colleagues insofar as they're being exploited for profit.
gamefreak is justifying all the layoffs of its old employees as "downsizing", without mentioning that there is actually no net loss of jobs with the corporation's overseas activity factored in. magmar, caterpie's supervisor, has thus fired the low-level employee without any form of compensation-- even the unfortunate bug's fire-red bowtie could not allay the wrath of the profit motive. mamgar dismisses caterpie with only thinly-veiled disdain, and in doing so feels reassured that he has the greater employment security due to having an administratively-based job, not even aware that already the higher-ups are looking to outsource his job to a heatmor in a far-away building who will work twice as long each week with no health insurance benefits.
